Addressing needs and bringing benefits
The initiative currently underway addresses the design and development of an artificial intelligence solution to detect cancer at an early stage. The project is at the execution phase, and is mentioned in this section because of its innovative nature and the complementarity of the players that make up the consortium. In 2019, the project received a subsidy of €3.75 million from the Department of Education and Innovation of the Autonomous Community of Madrid.
The goal of developing the new Artificial Intelligence tool for the early detection of cancer cannot be reached without the know-how, and scientific and technological knowledge of the entities cooperating in the consortium formed by the Hospital Universitario Infanta Leonor, Genetracer Biotech, Virtual Desk, Cognitive Expert, and IBM. The consortium also has the support of research bodies: UPM Bioengineering and Telemedicine Group, URJC Biometrics and Medical Image Analysis Laboratory, Foundation for Biomedical Research and Innovation (FIIB), Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia.
